Lee Stafford Blow Dry Faster & Nourish Hairdryer Review

As you know, I often get sent items to review and it’s very important to me to make it clear to anyone who takes the time to read my posts that although I have been sent an item free of charge I will still give an open and honest review because I myself read other people reviews when I’m trying to decide on an item to buy and I would hate for someone to buy something and hate it because I had lied and said it was amazing when in actual fact it wasn’t so great. So now I’ve said that let’s get to the item in hand…..

So as you should have guessed from the above statement I have been sent the Lee Stafford Blow Dry Faster & Nourish Hairdryer in exchange for an honest review. This hairdryer comes in a cardboard box and inside it is wrapped in plastic. The plug is fully attached to the item and literally all you have to do is pop the nozzle on the front of the hairdryer, plug it in and your good to go. My first impression of this hairdryer is that I absolutely love the colour, a beautiful, bright Ruby Red. It’s so vibrant and fun and yes in the grand scheme of things I know that’s not particularly an important factor in choosing a hairdryer but in my opinion it’s nice to see something different from the generic black that you usually find.

The Lee Stafford Blow Dry Faster & Nourish Hairdryer features 2 speeds and 3 heat settings and also a cool shot button which I feel is pretty standard on most hairdryers these days. In my opinion the hairdryer has 2 unique selling points – 1. A 3m extra long swivel cord and 2. The main focus of the hairdryer – and I have taken this straight from the website – ‘The ionic conditioning leaves your hair superbly smooth whilst the Argan hair oil infused grille nourishes your hair and encourages a stunning natural shine’ or more simply put an Argan Oil infused grille which when the hairdryer is switched on will infuse into the air that is blowing out of the hairdryer and onto your hair to nourish and condition. Now I am a huge fan of using Argan Oil on my hair, usually in the form of a conditioning spray, because it really does improve the condition of my coloured hair so I was very intrigued to try this hairdryer out.

One thing I will say is that I found this hairdryer a little heavier than the one I was previously using, it wasn’t an issue when using it but I just thought worth mentioning. The buttons on the handle of the hairdryer are in the perfect position to easily use and the cool shot button does exactly that, delivers a burst of cool air when you need it. My hair does feel smooth and soft after use although I’m not sure if that’s from the hairdryer or from the products I use as I do already have quite soft hair. In my opinion this is a great hairdryer and I do believe it did dry my hair quite quickly.

A few days after I had receive this I let my mum use it and although she liked the hairdryer – and funnily enough she DIDN’T find it heavier than her usual hairdryer there was one thing that niggled her. On her hairdryer at home when using the cool shot button there was no pick up in pace – meaning that it didn’t sort of ‘rev’ up in speed whereas this one does. Now as I said above (or more accurately didn’t say above!) that didn’t bother me in the slightest. To see if this would bother anyone else I decided to then let a friend use the hairdryer and asked her to let me know how she got on with it just to see if she was annoyed by the cool shot button but again, like me, it didn’t bother her.

All in all I think this is a great hairdryer and if I had purchased this with my own money I would have been very happy to spend the £29.99 it costs.

April 2017 Empties

Im a little bit late this month with my April Product Empties, it’s been such a busy month and I haven’t managed to write a blog post at all in May yet. Must try harder!

Usually my Product Empties are mostly Skincare based, however I’m finding it very satisfying that this month I have sucessfully finished not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 Makeup items. I don’t know why but I always feel more pleased with myself when my Product Empties are Makeup items rather than Skincare based! So what are my Empties this month……

  • Lush Herbalism Face & Body Cleanser – I actually got this from a girl in a Facebook swapping group – I swapped her a broken Colourpop Supershock Eye Shadow (that’s sound really unfair I know but she really wanted it) and I have to say I am very pleased that I didn’t pay for it because I HATED it. Like literally HATED. It was just so weird. Firstly the consistency was just odd, it was like a sort of crumbly, green, bitty, mound and the idea is that you break a bit off and wet it in your hand and then it becomes a paste that you cleanse with. Maybe it’s because it was so bitty I didn’t like it much, but the smell didn’t help either, just awful. I just wasn’t a fan at all.
  • Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel – Funnily enough I also got this on Facebook, only this time I won it in a competition! I actually loved this! It was so smooth and creamy and it lathered up really nicely and also it smelt A-MAZING. I think I will definitely be purchasing this one myself.
  • Caudalie Moisturizing Sorbet – Yes I know this was in my Product Empties before but over the last year I seem to have accumulated lots of these little tubes from one place or another so I’m not going to waffle on about it because you’ve heard it all before, all I’ll say is that I really do like this moisturiser. I find it super refreshing & it smells great.
  • Lancôme Genifique Serum – I have to say that I wasn’t a big fan of this at all. I just don’t think it did anything. It just seemed to disappear into nothing on my skin, which might sound like something you would want from a serum but it didn’t even feel like I had put anything on, it made my skin feel so dry and it just wasn’t for me.
  • Bare Minerals Prep Step Moisture Set Radient Prep Cream – I’ve been absolutely loving this primer. At first I was a bit concerned that it would make me really oily and greasy looking because I already have an oily skin type but it doesn’t at all. It doesn’t dry completely matte, it definitely stays slightly dewy but it isn’t overly greasy. It doesn’t really have a fragrance, which is fine with me. It feels hydrating and smooth leaving the perfect base for my makeup. Plus, a little goes a long way – I’ve had this Primer since my birthday last year (may 31st!) and it’s only just ran out.
  • Tarte Tartiest Mascara – I got my first tube of this mascara in the QVC Tili Box and it very quickly became my favourite mascara, I always repurchase this everytime it runs out – I cannot live without it! It leaves my lashes looking volumised, long, lush and full. Also it doesn’t smudge underneath my eyes either which is great.
  • Bee Good Honey And Camelina Face Scrub – I really liked this face scrub because the little scrubby grains in it were tiny and that’s how I like them – in fact I think that’s the main reason why I didn’t like the Lush Herbalism, the grains were too bitty. This was just perfect, meaning that it wasn’t too harsh on my skin but it was grainy enough to give my face a really good revitalising scrub and get all the dead skin cells away. It wasn’t particularly fragranced like you might think it would be as the name would suggest but I’m not a huge fan of strong fragrances anyway in my skincare products.
  • L’Oréal Lumi Magique Highlighting Wand – Well what can I say about this little beauty! I have absolutely LOVED using this! It’s great for under your eyes – I’ve been applying my regular undereye concealer (Boujois Radiance Reveal) and then adding 2 dots of this and it brightens up that whole area so nicely. It mixes in with my concealer really nicely – no separation, no caking – and it just makes my eyes look so much more awake! No undereye dark circles for this tired mamma! Can’t recommend this enough.
  • Benefit Ready Set Brow – Not much to say about this except that it does exactly what you want it to – sets your brows perfectly in place for the day ahead – job done!

So that’s my Product Empties for the month of April. What did you use up last month ?

Roccabox April 2017

This month a new beauty box subscription service called Roccabox was launched. It retails at £10 a month plus £3.95 shipping and it includes 5 makeup, skincare or hair care products. Each month every box is put together by a social influencer and this first box was the turn of Pretty Ugly Blog owner Gabriella Pisani, fashion writer for Hello magazine. Roccabox does not offer a beauty profile for you to fill in so your box is tailored to your needs, everyone simply gets the same 5 items. Let’s jump in and see what was in this months box.

  • John Frieda Frizz Ease Original 6 effects serum (worth £6.99 on Feel Unique).
  • Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Hand Therapy Cream (£8 from the C&E website).
  • Kure Bizzare – The Natural Pedicure Ritual (£4.50 from the John and Ginger website).
  • Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in the Shade  St James (£15 from the Nails Inc website
  • Smith and Cult Diary Of A Beauty Junkie Lip Lacquer (worth £23)

If we add all that up that is a box value of £57.49 which for a £13.95 spend is not all that bad! I’m quite happy with the contents of this box and will use everything except the Frizz Ease because I don’t get frizzy hair so I will be giving that to my mum.

What beauty boxes did you get in April?

Review Of The Jeffree Star x MannyMUA Makeup Collaboration

When Jeffree Star and Manny MUA announced that they were doing a collaboration for Jeffree’s cosmetics line the makeup world went a bit mad! Then Manny kept leaving a Skin Frost in black packaging ‘accidentally’ in his social media pictures everyone was speculating what shade would it be? What else would be in the collab? Would it be sold in the UK? Manny himself said that it would be ‘something that you wouldn’t expect from him’. At first when it was announced that it would be available in the UK from Beauty Bay it was said that it would be only as single items and not in the Limited Edition Bundle Packaging. Of course everyone was a bit disappointed about this as it would mean if you wanted it, you would need to buy it directly from Jeffree’s site and would most probably get stung by customs, but then weirdly enough it just seemed to appear on Beauty Bay well after release date and I was just too tempted to miss out.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE the packaging, the black and silver is just such a classic combination and the fact that it’s holographic just screams out to me. It’s just so sleek and it makes it look so luxurious and expensive (which I suppose st £55 it is!).

Once you remove the sleeve and open up the box, inside you will find 2 Velour Liquid Lipsticks and a Skin Frost, each individually boxed.

Now if you’ve purchased a Jeffree Star Skin Frost before you will know that they are absolutely HUGE. Like literally the biggest highlight EVER. Usually when purchased alone they retail at around £25 and when you consider the size that’s not that bad.

The highlight in the Jeffree x Manny Collab is in the Shade Eclipse and it’s a really pretty Icy Muted Peach shade in the pan and when swatched, in my opinion, that translates really nicely. If I am completely honest I would have hoped for a little more pigmentation from this but it’s still a lovely colour and very buildable.

The Velour Liquid Lipsticks in the Jeffree x Manny Collaboration are called Daddy, which is a cool toned brown and I’m Shook, which is a burnt red tone. Below I have included swatches of them both Wet and Dry just to see if there is much difference in the colours once they dry.

I don’t think there is difference at all between the Wet and Dry swatches which is good because it’s very annoying when you buy a lipstick thinking it’s one colour and it turns out completely different once dry – of course your own skins undertones can play a part in this. My favourite out of the two colours is Im Shook, I just think it’s a really easy red to wear during the day because its not too bright or in your face.

Overall I’m quite happy with the Jeffree Star x MannyMUA Collaboration and I’m definitely glad I have it in my collection.

What do you think of this Collab? Did you manage to get hold of it?
