John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo & Conditioner Review

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a lovely lady from the John Frieda PR team and asked if I would like to try out any of their products. Of course I said yes and explained that I struggle with volume as I have quite fine hair naturally. A few days later a little parcel arrived containing a shampoo and conditioner from the Luxurious Volume Range and some Biore Pore Strips.

The Luxurious Volume Shampoo is an almost clear formula and is relatively fragrance free. I have medium length hair down to my shoulder blades (picture above for reference) and I didn’t need to use a huge amount to get a nice lather going. After using the shampoo I didn’t feel like it had left too much residue in my hair and my hair felt nice and clean.

As you would expect the Shampoo was swiftly followed by the Luxurious Volume Conditioner and I have to say this definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. Normally you would expect your conditioner to have a creamy, milky consistency but the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Conditioner is a completely clear, firmer formula and to be honest I was a little bit dubious when I first squeezed it out of the tube. None the less I gave it a go and I was pleasantly surprised, of course it felt a bit….well weird at first to use a conditioner that was such an unusual consistency but once I had smoothed it all over my hair it didn’t really feel much different to any other conditioner I would use. As always I left the conditioner on my hair whilst I washed the rest of my body and then rinsed it off a few minutes later. After blow drying my hair I definitely felt like it wasn’t as flat as it usually is and it was smooth & soft as it usually is. I will say that after 3/4 times of using this I did notice that my hair felt a little bit drier than usual so I used a clarifying shampoo inbetween the 4th and 5th wash to get rid of the product build up (it’s worth mentioning that I DO use hairspray everyday so that contributes to the build up as well and not just the shampoos and conditioners that I use) then after that I went back to the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo And Conditioner and my hair was back to being smooth and soft. If you purchase these products I definitely recommend that you use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove any build up that you may experience.

My overall thoughts on the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Range are quite positive – I think it has definitely improved the volume in my hair, it left my hair feeling smooth and soft, the size of the tubes lasts for quite a while and I would be very happy to pay the £1.99 each for the Shampoo and Conditioner.

I also noticed as I was researching the price of these that they do a 7 Day Volume Treatment from the same range for £9.99 and I would definitely be interested to try that out and use in conjunction with the shampoo and conditioner to see how they work together.

Have you used anything from the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Range before and how did you find it? Let me know in the comments below.
